Remember, paint is a liquid, it will dry extremely quickly if your painting on surfaces above 90°F - 95°F (32°C-35°C). If you run into any marks or errors while painting, it can mess up the smooth finish your wanting to achieve in this paint job.

Generally speaking, the ideal temperature range for painting is between 50°F to 85°F (10°C to 29°C).

Which is something to consider if your wanting to achieve an even finish and a lasting job for your client or for yourself. It also seals porous surfaces, preventing moisture penetration and potential paint issues later on, keeping your client (or yourself) happy and saves money from buying repair tools twice (different from the paint prep). Opt for a primer that is compatible with your chosen paint type and follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.

Proper Technique

If you're a painter, you know what your technique is because you know that what's what works for how you get the job done is important. However, if your new to painting exterior, the proper painting technique is vital to achieve a smooth and flawless finish. Start by cutting in along edges, corners, and trim with a brush before using rollers and frames for larger areas (you'll want to purchase rollers 14"-18" and with frames to match, we have both in stock as well!).

Additionally, investing in the proper paint sprayer would be a great and easier technique for covering larger areas. It saves time and money depending on how much area you need to cover as well as for future projects (if you work in the painting industry).

Apply paint evenly, working in small sections, and avoid overloading the roller, brush or sprayer, as it can lead to drips and uneven coverage. Pay attention to the direction of your strokes and spraying, aiming for a consistent pattern. If your spraying, you can go left to right or up to down. If your rolling or brushing, the up and down technique would be your best choice. If using multiple coats, allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next one.

Safety Measures

When painting the exterior, use appropriate safety equipment, such as goggles, gloves, and a respirator, especially when working with paint containing hazardous chemicals.
